Gravity Falls creator's next project lands at Fox

What that will entail is a mystery

Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch is leaving the Disney Channel for Fox, Variety reports. Hirsch shared where he'd be heading after Gravity Falls airs its final episode next month, although he offered few other details.

20th Century Fox will produce a script and pilot for the unnamed series. There's no guarantee that whatever Hirsch is working on will make it to air, of course, but considering Fox's strong interest in animation, it's an encouraging start.

While Hirsch has worked on several other cartoons in his relatively brief career, including Cartoon Network's The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and Disney's Fish Hooks, he made a name for himself with Gravity Falls. The mystery-comedy-action series will end its 40-episode run on Feb. 15, following nearly four years on the air and two seasons.
