Prey’s latest trailer isn’t a new look at the game per se — but it does show it off from a different perspective.
Today’s Prey trailer is essentially identical to the gameplay trailer that publisher Bethesda Softworks released during Gamescom, except that Morgan is a woman this time around.
Developer Arkane Studios revealed earlier this year that Prey players will be able to choose whether the game’s protagonist, Morgan Yu, is male or female. This decision won’t have an impact on the story; it’s simply a matter of player preference.
"The theme of identity is central to Prey," said creative director Raphael Colantonio in an interview with Bethesda.net. "Who is Morgan Yu exactly? We want to give you the freedom of being a man or a woman, but we also don’t want to limit who you become when you make that choice."
Prey is set for release on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One in 2017. For more on the reboot of the first-person shooter franchise, read our interview with Bethesda from QuakeCon.
