This is a pretty huge leak

The Dark Tower - Idris Elba as the Gunslinger Ilze Kitshoff/Sony Pictures Entertainment

The Dark Tower film, starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, will be released on Feb. 17, 2017. But an early version of what seems to be the first trailer has leaked online, and you can watch it below.

The special effects aren’t done in some places, but this is a rather extensive look at the film. It even ends with a sort of meditation that Roland, the titular gunslinger of the book series, uses to sharpen his mind and the minds of his fledgling gunslingers before battle.

In its entirety:

I do not aim with my hand

He who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.

I aim with my eye.

I do not shoot with my hand.

He who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.

I shoot with my mind.

I do not kill with my gun.

He who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.

I kill with my heart.

The trailer looks interesting, but it also looks like a number of drastic changes have been made to the book series ... and we’re going to need to see a lot more to figure out how successful those changes have been. This trailer doesn’t do much to capture the tone of the original book series either, but this is also a very early, leaked look at a trailer that may or not be recut for the final release.

If you’ve read the books, we’d love to hear your thoughts.

Update: As predicted, Sony has pulled the trailer from Vimeo’s servers.
