Beyond Good & Evil is this month’s gift to Ubisoft fans, as the publisher is giving it away to Ubisoft Club subscribers throughout October. Starting today until mid-November, grabbing a Windows PC copy of the classic action game is as easy as signing up for a Uplay account.
Ubisoft timed the giveaway with aplomb, considering the game’s recently heightened profile. A week of teases from director Michel Ancel gave way to Ubisoft’s official confirmation that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is in development at its Montpellier outpost.
We’ve known about the sequel since 2008, but the studio has kept quiet about its status ever since. Last week’s announcement made concrete what fans had speculated about for years, although there’s still no launch window in sight for Beyond Good & Evil 2 yet.
Until then, there’s always the first game, which maintains a loyal following, even 13 years after its release. The free download — released in honor of Ubisoft’s 30th anniversary this year — is a good way to start Jade’s journey from the beginning, or return to it after more than a decade.
Ubisoft is offering a different game each month through 2016’s end, and has done so since launching the promotion in July. The downloads are available for a limited time.
Correction: Ubisoft’s Montpellier branch is working on the game, not Montreal. The text has been corrected above.
