Skylanders Academy animated series gets its first trailer

Show premieres on Netflix Oct. 28

This week Activision Blizzard rolled out the first trailer for the Skylanders Academy animated series which premieres on Netflix on Friday, Oct. 28.

It’s worth noting that the show, led by Futurama’s Eric Rogers, is the first of what one can assume will be many television and movie creations built inside the publisher at Activision Blizzard Studios.

Leaked emails from Sony last year noted that studios were very interested in turning the massive toys-to-life brand into a TV show and games like Call of Duty and Destiny into movies.

Earlier this year, Activision Blizzard brought in producer Stacy Sher to run the newly-formed production company, the brainchild of Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick.

Skylanders Academy features the voices of Justin Long (Dodge Ball) as Spyro; Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical) as Stealth Elf; Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad) as Eruptor; and Norm MacDonald (Saturday Night Live) as Glumshanks. Additional voice talent includes Susan Sarandon, Daniel Wu, Bobcat Goldthwait, The Diamond Minecart, Parker Posey, James Hetfield, Catherine O’Hara, Chris Diamantopoulos and Harland Williams.

The show is executive produced by Sander Schwartz (The Batman) an animated by TeamTO studio.
