Glimpse the plans for the Death Star in new Rogue One character posters

It's closer than they thought

The main mission in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first stand-alone anthology Star Wars film from Disney and Lucasfilm, follows the Rebellion trying to steal the plans to the Death Star from the Empire.

In a series of new character posters released by Disney today, those plans can be seen on the sides or front of each character's face. The luminous, blue lines that make up the complex intricacies of the Empire's most valuable weapon are hard to actually read in the poster, but it's a cool way to bring the mission to the forefront of the company's marketing campaign.

The eight characters, which features both members of the Rebellion like Jyn Erso and Captain Cassian Andor and members of the Empire like Director Orson Krennic, can be seen in the posters below. Missing from the collection of shots is Galen Erso, played by Mads Mikkelsen, who we know is an instrumental force in the creation of the Death Star and the estranged father of Jyn.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters Dec. 16.
