Game of Thrones characters meet for first time in new set video

Spoiler season is here

Filming for Game of Thrones is underway in Spain, which means that footage and photos from set have begun to leak online.

[Warning: This post will contain possible spoilers for the upcoming seventh season of Game of Thrones.]

In a new video from Basque newspaper El Correo, which can be seen on their site, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) is deep in conversation with Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham). The two characters have never met, but their personal histories are intertwined. Davos was the right-hand man of Stannis Baratheon and was in charge of a ship during the attack on King’s Landing. Tyrion was left to defend the city from said attack, and launched the wildfire trick on Davos and his men that resulted in the death of Davos’ son, Matthos.

There’s no clue as to what Davos and Tyrion could be talking about, so it’s hard to gauge if it’s a pleasant or menacing conversation, but the two are representing different leaders. Jon Snow is getting ready to take on the roll as King of the North, and we know all about Daenerys Targaryen’s desires to be Queen, but the question is whether the two can co-exist peacefully or if we’ll see them collide in another one of the show’s massive battles.

Game of Thrones is currently filming in Spain, which is a little later than usual. Showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff said that they had to delay filming to accommodate the cooler weather — they’ve been warning us for six seasons that winter was coming and it’s finally arrived. Because of the delay in shoots, however, Game of Thrones won’t premiere in the spring like it usually does; instead, it will debut next summer.

Correction: HBO announced in July that the seventh season of Game of Thrones will premiere in summer 2017. We’ve edited the article to reflect this.
