Watch the first trailer for Logan

The third Wolverine installment features Old Man Logan

After weeks of vague Instagram photos and tweets, the first trailer for Logan has arrived. It can be seen above.

Hugh Jackman is reprising his role as Wolverine for the film being directed by James Mangold. Unlike previous Wolverine installments, Jackman won’t be buffed up and ready to fight. Instead, this version of the character will be an older, less ferocious version of X-Men’s most notorious mutant, one who’s suffering from chronic back pain and diminishing healing abilities.

The film is based on an eight-issue arc that ran in the main Wolverine series between 2008 and 2009 called Old Man Logan. Created by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven, Old Man Logan follows Wolverine as he travels across the country in a world where mutants are a rare breed. Based on the photos posted to Instagram and tweets on Mangold’s account, it appears that the director has plans to stick pretty closely to the comic.

Logan will be released on March 3, 2017.

Update: For those of you who felt there wasn't nearly enough stabbing in the trailer, 20th Century Fox has released the international red band trailer as well, which includes one different shot. You can watch it below, in .gif form.
