Seller expects $50K for rare Pokémon card

Current bid: Just $340

Heritage Auctions

This Pokémon card from almost 20 years ago is currently fetching a $340 bid. The seller thinks it will command $50,000 eventually.

It's the "Pikachu Illustrator" card, never sold with the Pokémon Trading Card Game. CoroCoro Comic, the Japanese manga, awarded it in 1998 to winners of an illustration contest. According to the seller, a total of 39 cards were given out among two contests with only 10 certified copies still known to exist.

The seller calls it "the most valuable and rarest Pokémon card in the world!" The reserve price has not yet been met. That will be posted on Nov. 10, and the auction ends Nov. 19.
