An open laptop may have leaked the next Tomb Raider title

Maybe public transportation isn’t the best place to work on secret documents

A sharp-eyed metro rider may have unearthed the title of the next Tomb Raider game after spotting it on an open laptop on a Montreal train.

Reddit user Tripleh280 snapped a picture of a presentation on an Asus laptop screen, with Shadow of the Tomb Raider somewhat visible in the right corner. The caption on Reddit reads, “Saw someone working on a presentation for ‘Shadow of the Tomb Raider’ on the subway (Possible new game?)”

“I was looking at my phone and next to me was this guy working on a powerpoint. Out of curiosity i took a look to see what he was working [on],” Tripleh280 told Polygon. “That's when I saw the logo for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I work downtown Montreal so I know that many game studios are in the area so I assumed it possibly real and was the name of the next Tomb Raider game. From where i was standing, I couldn't see much other than the page he was one talked about visual design.”

While Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics is in San Francisco, Square Enix’s large Eidos Montreal studio, as its name suggests, is located in Montreal. Kotaku reports that the developer, fresh off Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, is heading up the next Tomb Raider title.

While Shadow of the Tomb Raider does fit the naming conventions of these rebooted Tomb Raider games, it could just as easily be a working title for the next Lara Croft adventure. Either way, it’s a lesson to keep your laptop closed if you think someone can get a good glance at your screen, especially after Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag was leaked when someone saw its PowerPoint on an airplane.

When reached for comment, a representative for Square Enix said, “We don’t comment on rumors and speculation.”
