Danganronpa has won cult acclaim with PlayStation Vita owners, and now the first two games in the gruesome murder mystery series are heading to PlayStation 4. Danganronpa 1 & 2 Reloaded will launch on March 14, NIS America revealed in the trailer above.
Both Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair are included in the package, giving new players the chance to experience the entire story — that is, save for interquel Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls. A limited edition set is now available for pre-order, adding an art book, soundtrack, sticker, coin and sunglasses inspired by mascot Monokuma, all housed within a special collector’s box. You can check out the full set below; it retails for $59.99.
How these visual novels will translate to console remains to be seen, although the unique visuals appear to remain intact. Both stories involve unwilling participants of a twisted game, led by the disturbed ursine Monokuma, in which they must put their lives at risk in the hopes of escape.
A third mainline Danganronpa game is in the works for both PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4. New Danganronpa V3 remains without a release date for Western audiences, although it’s out in Japan in January. With Reloaded out first, newcomers will have the chance to become acquainted with the storyline before jumping in to the next entry.
Update: Danganronpa 1 & 2 Reloaded arrives next March, NIS America has announced. The story above has been updated to reflect the release date.
