Pokémon Go players will soon get more out of going to the gym. An update coming to the mobile game will let trainers take up to six Pokémon — not just one — to a team-controlled gym to battle it out against other Pokémon.
The update will also temporarily adjust the CP of Pokémon you’re training against in order to "generally match your Pokémon’s battle capabilities," Niantic said in a post on the game’s official website.
"No matter what your level, you can now have an impact on your team’s Gym," Niantic said. "Walk with your Buddy Pokémon to that nearby landmark and show your Team Leader that you can battle with the best!"

Another feature coming to Pokémon Go is a new medal system that should aid in the catching of rare Pokémon. Players who earn medals based on catching certain types of Pokémon (Fire, Water, Poison, etc.) will be granted a catch bonus.
"These new bonuses will give you a better chance of capturing Pokémon with a related type," Niantic explained in a post. "For example, as you reach a higher tier for the Kindler Medal, your bonus to catch Fire-type Pokémon such as Charmander, Vulpix and Ponyta increases."
The addition of medal-based catch bonuses will give Pokémon Go players yet another reason to catch those more common Pokémon, like Rattata, Pidgeys and Ekans, with the expectation of a payoff later on.
