At a recent Square Enix event we got to sit down with a solid chunk of Final Fantasy 15. You can watch the first 40 minutes, minus some spoilery cutscenes, in this gameplay video.
The game is off to a pretty peaceful start. Noctis and his pals are on their way to Golden Quay, and side quests abound on the way. The area that we explored in these opening minutes felt pretty vast. You can explore by driving your car along the dusty desert roads, or making your friend Ignis do it for you.
The biggest mystery of this first chapter so far is: What the heck is that huge bird? It keeps showing up like Ho-Oh in the Pokémon anime.
Final Fantasy 15 will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Nov. 29.
