Lucy director Luc Besson’s next project, Valerian — a sci-fi epic that takes place in a futuristic world where humans have mastered time travel — finally has its first trailer.
The trailer, set to the tune of The Beatles’ “Because,” follows Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) as they travel throughout the galaxy, taking on hordes of different alien species. The film follows the two agents on an investigative mission to figure out what’s happening under the rule of a certain galactic empire.
The biggest takeaway from the nearly two-minute trailer are the visuals. It’s a stunning trailer with vibrant, neon lights illuminating the worlds as the two agents travel through time and space. The alien species are also a highlight of the trailer, and are a pretty good indicator of what audiences should expect to see in the film.
Valerian — the full title of which is Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets — is based on the French comic series Valerian and Laureline. The film stars DeHaan and Delevingne alongside John Goodman, Rihanna, Clive Owen and Ethan Hawke.
Valerian is slated to hit theaters July 21, 2017.
