Miitomo just got a big update

Private messages, room customization and more

Nintendo hasn’t forgotten about Miitomo. An update for the Nintendo’s social app adds a long list of new features, including the ability to send private messages to friends and ways to customize your Mii’s room. To mark the occasion, Nintendo is offering a batch of free customizations aimed at longtime Nintendo fans.

Miitomo’s new update, which is already live for the Android and iOS app, lets users send private messages to anyone on their friends list. Messages will be personally delivered by your Mii or a new “Sidekick Mii.”

Miitomo users can also decorate their room with posters, wallpaper and flooring. Posters can be created from Miifoto images, while wallpaper and flooring can be won from the Miitomo Drop game. Nintendo is currently giving away themed wallpaper based on Super Mario Bros., Metroid: Zero Mission, The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon. Miitomo users can get those Nintendo-themed decorations for free by logging into the app and using the new features.

Nintendo is also making it easier to share or browse Mii outfits and view answers to questions with the Style Central and Answer Central hubs. Miitomo users will also be able to see recent answers to the friends’ questions with a new timeline filter. And if you don’t have much in the way of friends, Miitomo will let you create up to 100 Sidekick Miis that you can dress up or send to deliver messages.

Miitomo and its most recent update are available for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
