The Elder Scrolls Online's extended free-play weekend is underway right now for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Mac, opening up the full base game of the MMO to anyone who wants to try it.
The free-play session began at midnight today on PlayStation 4; a PlayStation Plus subscription is not required to participate. The PS4 download is free but it's hefty: 73 GB.
The Windows/Mac free-play event begins on Steam at 1 pm ET today. That download is 85 GB.
A free-play weekend for Xbox One is planned and dates for it will be revealed soon.
Participants will get 500 Crowns to spend on costumes, pet companions, scrolls and other in-game items. All progress will be retained past the free play weekend should the player choose to purchase the game.
To that end, all versions of The Elder Scrolls Online will be discounted through Nov. 28. This includes the four major DLC extensions of Imperial City, Orsinium, Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. Crown Packs are also discounted.
