Star Wars Battlefront’s final expansion pack, Rogue One: Scarif, arrives Dec. 6. A free PlayStation VR mission for the game will also launch that day, Electronic Arts announced.
Both sets of downloadable content, based on the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, launch nearly two weeks ahead of the spinoff film’s release on Dec. 16. As the last release in Battlefront’s season pass, Rogue One: Scarif adds four new maps set on the titular tropical planet. Rogue One hero Jyn Erso (played by Felicity Jones) will also join the game as a playable character, as will the villainous Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn).
The free, PSVR-compatible X-Wing VR Mission gives players the chance to become immersed in the world of Rogue One, piloting an X-Wing in virtual reality. It’s available to all owners of the game, not just season pass holders.
There’s a sequel to Battlefront in the works and due out in fall 2017, according to EA and developer DICE. Expect more content from newer Star Wars films; the first Battlefront excludes characters and settings from Episode VII, despite launching right before it hit theaters.
As for Rogue One, that’s currently set to be a stand-alone story. Other Star Wars spinoffs are in the works, along with 2017’s Star Wars: Episode VIII.
