Get an extended look at Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS

For Mario making on the go

Nintendo’s Super Mario level-creation game, Super Mario Maker, is making the jump from Wii U to Nintendo 3DS next month. For the most part, the 3DS game is identical — from a level editor perspective, anyway — to its console counterpart, as you can see in Nintendo’s new overview video above.

Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS will let players design their own Super Mario levels, with themes, enemies and items lifted from Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros. Players will be able to enjoy 100 Nintendo-developed built-in courses and “recommended courses” from the Wii U version of the game.

Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS does have one major shortcoming, however. Players will only be able to share their handheld creations via local wireless and StreetPass connections.

Nintendo will release Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS Dec. 2.
