Amazon has more or less offered itself as the Deal of the Day, giving new subscribers a $20 break on a year’s subscription to Amazon Prime, but you don’t have a lot of time to cash in.
“Until November 18th at 11:59 p.m., PT, eligible new members can join Amazon Prime for $79 plus applicable taxes for the first year and enjoy member-only benefits and content, including The Grand Tour,” Amazon announced. “Although the price in your cart will show $99, the promotion discount will be applied at checkout. You will be charged when you place your order.”
This deal exists to promote The Grand Tour, an Amazon show that’s basically a reboot of the BBC hit Top Gear, but who cares why they’re doing it: Prime comes bundled with a variety of services that make it more than worth the price, especially at $79.99.
For our audience, the biggest draw is likely to be the 20 percent savings you get on every pre-order and newly released game. You’ll save 20 percent on all games from pre-order until two weeks after release, as long as the game is being sold and shipped by Amazon. Prime customers, depending on their location, also receive free release-day shipping.
Release-Date Delivery is available for eligible pre-order items we can deliver on the release date to ZIP codes within the continental U.S.
Some carriers make deliveries to residential addresses as late as 7 p.m.
Shipping charges for Release-Date Delivery vary by item and are displayed on the order confirmation page.
For Amazon Prime members, Release-Date Delivery is free when selecting Two-Day Shipping.
You can see the full list of benefits for members if you’re still not sold, including free two-day shipping on eligible items and access to Prime Video, Music and Photos. Be careful if you’re ordering a subscription and you’re not located in the U.S.; some benefits change depending on your region of the world.
