The Last Guardian has a new CG cinematic trailer — apparently this is now being shown in theaters? — and Sony pushed it out yesterday alongside an interview with Fumito Ueda, the game's creative director.
While some might find "griffin" (or "gryphon") a more appealing term to describe Trico, Ueda doesn't give his fantastical species a name. "Trico is a hybrid of sorts, a mixture of a cat, a dog, a bird, and the like," he said. And why?
"When I was younger, I grew up in a home that had a bunch of animals," Ueda said. "My experiences with them are great memories that I still have. In creating Trico, I didn’t really have to do any specific research because it’s a creature that obviously doesn’t exist. But it’s really all based on my childhood memories, the way I interacted with the animals, the way they reacted to me."
There is much more in the interview here; The Last Guardian, at long last (sorry, I had to) arrives Dec. 6 in North America. We've been talking about it since 2007. We'll talk about it more, I'm sure.
