Fan-made Majora’s Mask video highlights Skull Kid’s origin

You’ve met with a terrible fate, haven’t you?

Remember when “fan-made videos” meant dubbing a supercut of game footage with your favorite dramatic song from your awkward teenage phase? We’ve come a long way since then. Ember Lab created a stunning homage to The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask in a short CG-animated film titled “Terrible Fate.” It focuses on the origin of Skull Kid, the primary antagonist for most of the game, as well as a few familiar faces like the Happy Mask Salesman, Tatl and Tael.

The release of “Terrible Fate” is certainly well-timed — Majora’s Mask will be available to play on Wii U’s Virtual Console as soon as Nov. 24. If you’re interested, even more Zelda games and other titles are already on sale for Nintendo’s holiday cyber deals until Dec. 5 at 8:59 a.m. PT.

For now, nostalgia and a sneak peek of Breath of the Wild gameplay will have to tide over Zelda fans everywhere until the release of the Nintendo Switch.
