Spend your Thanksgiving marathoning terrible movies with the MST3K stream

Hosted by Joel Hodgson and Jonah Ray

If you’re looking for something to distract you from the madness of Thanksgiving, and you’re in the mood for someone making fun of terrible movies, the team at Mystery Science Theater 3000 has you covered.

Today, MST3K creator Joel Hodgson and host Jonah Ray are hosting a six-movie marathon on the studio’s YouTube channel for free. The marathon, which will feature classics chosen by Hodgson and Ray from the 100 Most Popular Classic MST3K Episodes, started at 12 p.m. ET today.

Shout! Factory, the company which produces the new series, is launching the marathon as an annual event for Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans. The marathon will take on the tone of previous Thanksgiving specials that the MST3K team has done in the past, but will add some newer segments and footage based on the most recent season.

Hodgson and his team launched a Kickstarter campaign earlier this year to bring the series back. They were asking for $2 million in funding, and by the end of the campaign, had raised over $5 million.

If you’re looking for other Thanksgiving entertainment, including movies to throw on for family and friends, be sure to check out Polygon’s list of 10 films to stream this holiday.
