Hearthstone’s Murlocs star in heartwarming Holiday video

Vile creatures celebrate Christmas in style

Hearthstone's Murlocs aren't necessarily the type of creatures you'd want to spend the Holidays with, but this is the time of year for hearty fellowship.

In that spirit, Blizzard today released an hour-long yule log video featuring World of Warcraft's and Hearthstone’s slimy race of sludge-dwellers.

In the video, you can listen to Murlocs sing along to your favorite Christmas carols, while they lay out some of their snazziest seasonal treats and decorations. Murlocs singing sound like a man with a terrific hangover, gargling while a small child stamps on his foot.

Murlocs, according to Wowpedia, speak a guttural language that is entirely indecipherable to outsiders. Also, they "may not be as dumb as everyone thinks they are." Hearthstone Gamepedia describes them as "a type of minion, best known for their swarming gameplay and board-wide synergy."

Murlocs are clearly a fan favorite. A 2010 video soundbite of a Murloc speaking, lasting just three seconds, has thus far ticked up more than 1.2 million views. Coupled with the magic of a yule log, the potential for this video seems limitless. Perhaps other games companies will follow in Blizzard's footsteps and offer more weird creature / yule log videos. Let's hope so.
