The film Assassin’s Creed is just over three weeks away, and 20th Century Fox has released the first clip from the movie to whet the appetite of fans: a glimpse of Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) getting to know an ancestor of his, the Assassin called Aguilar.
Dr. Sophia Rikkin (Marion Cotillard) works for Abstergo Industries, the evil corporation at the heart of the Assassin’s Creed series’ present-day story. In that timeline, she and her team capture Callum Lynch because they want the memories in his DNA: the life lived by Aguilar more than five centuries ago, during the Spanish Inquisition in the year in which Christopher Columbus arrived in the New World.
Dr. Rikkin jacks Callum into the Animus — the Abstergo computer system that can synchronize Assassins and their descendants — sending him hurtling into his family’s history as Aguilar.
Assassin’s Creed, which also stars Jeremy Irons, Michael K. Williams, Brendan Gleeson and Ariane Labed, hits theaters Dec. 21. For more, check out the trailer that Fox released last month.
