During its keynote presentation at BlizzCon today, Blizzard announced two new characters for its online battle arena brawler Heroes of the Storm that players would be able to choose: Warcraft's King of Stormwind, Varian Wrynn and Ragnaros.
Varian is the first multiclass hero and can either be a shield-bearing warrior or a life-ending assassin, according to the developer. Players will also get the chance to take on the role of Ragnaros and become the raid boss. Both Varian Wrynn and Ragnaros will be available to play at BlizzCon this weekend. For those not in attendance, Varian will be released into the test realm next week, with Raganros' debut following in December.
Last month Blizzard revealed that the newest addition to the game was Samuro the Blademaster from Warcraft 3. Today’s announcement also comes just a couple of months after Blizzard released the Machines of War mode for the game and added Overwatch’s Zarya to the roster. Leading up to today’s announcement, players had speculated that Hearthstone’s Innkeeper would be announced as one of the characters being added, but that ultimately didn't happen.
BlizzCon runs from Friday Nov. 4 through Saturday Nov. 5 in Anaheim, California. Although the opening ceremonies and keynote livestream was made available for anyone to watch free of charge, those interested in streaming other events, esports competitions and panels will have to purchase a BlizzCon Virtual Ticket for $39.99. Polygon will be at BlizzCon to cover the panels, hands-on gameplay and conduct interviews with Blizzard developers and executives.
The full schedule for BlizzCon can be found on the company’s official website.
