When the reboot of the XCOM franchise landed in 2012, perhaps the most surprising feature was the fantastic controller support. So when this year’s XCOM 2 arrived on PCs it was conspicuous in its absence. Now, nearly a full year after its release, controller support has arrived for Linux, Windows PC and Mac.
Creative director Jake Solomon has also released a special video highlighting a newly unlocked feature. Now, for the first time ever, players can tour the Avenger mobile base in first person.
Using the XCOM 2 console, players can open the developer debug mode and access a first-person, floating camera. They can skim around inside the XCOM base, have a beer in the commissary and see the items in the Commander’s trophy case up close.
Today’s patch also contains some minor bug fixes, as well as paving the way for total conversion mods. You can read the full press release here.
