Patrick Wilson has signed onto James Wan’s Aquaman to play one of Jason Momoa’s adversaries, Orm.
Variety is reporting that Wilson, who is best known for his work in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen adaptation, will play Aquaman’s evil half-brother. In the comics, Orm (also known as the Ocean Master) competes with Aquaman for the throne of Atlantis. It’s unclear if that will be the main point of contention between the two men in the film. Polygon has reached out to Warner Bros. for more information.
Wilson joins Amber Heard, who will play Queen Mera and Willem Dafoe, who will take on the role of Nuidis Vulko, the chief scientific advisor to Atlantis. Warner Bros. has said previously that the film will focus on Aquaman’s struggle between dealing with the surface world and Atlantis as his people begin to revolt against those ravaging their seas.
Aquaman, which marks the sixth film in the new DC Cinematic Universe, will hit theaters on Oct. 5, 2018. For those who can’t wait, Momoa’s superhero will also make an appearance in Snyder’s Justice League on Nov. 17, 2017.
