New trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2 promises way more action

John Wick is back

The second trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2 has arrived, and with it some additional information about what to expect out of the movie.

The first trailer for the sequel was released back in October during New York Comic Con (NYCC). The trailer found the trained assassin moving from New York to Rome to for a social affair just days after the events of the last movie.

During a panel for the film at NYCC, director Chad Stahelski and writer Derek Kolstad said the sequel focuses on an entirely new group of assassins that Wick will have to either team up with or kill. The assassins he encounters, however, are all just a means to an end, leading Keanu Reeves’ John Wick to Laurence Fishburne’s character. Stahelski and Reeves both said that including Fishburne in the film was a move 17 years in the making, dating back to their work on the Matrix trilogy.

In 2014, Fishburne approached Reeves at a party and said that he enjoyed the film and would love to be a part of it if the opportunity ever arose. Reeves told Stahelski and the two found a way to bring Fishburne into the sequel, reuniting the two lead Matrix actors.

John Wick: Chapter 2 also features a new dog for Reeves to take care of, but as of right now, the fate of that pup is still undetermined.

John Wick: Chapter 2 hits theaters Feb. 10, 2017.
