Abrams Publishing has released a new art book to coincide with the premiere of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It’s called The Art of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Inside, you’ll find some explosive new information about the first stand-alone Star Wars film.
Inside you’ll find a curated collection culled from the thousands of pieces of concept art created for the film. There’s more than 300 total, and some date back to the original treatment written in 2013. The roughly square, hardcover book is written by Josh Kushins, and features forwards by Doug Chiang and Neil Lamont, who served as co-production designers for Rogue One, as well as the film’s director Gareth Edwards.
Highlights include a detailed evolution of the movie’s rebel characters, as well as lengthy explorations of its new Imperials. You’ll find some of the earliest efforts to bring Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor to life, as well as the Force-sensitive martial artist Chirrut Îmwe and his companion Baze Malbus.
Abrams has given Polygon a few exclusive images, and we’re happy to share them with you here.
