Westworld is being recreated by Sims players

It was only a matter of time

Westworld is an expansive, simulated world inhabited by artificially intelligent hosts, so it was only a matter of time before the series started to get recreated in The Sims.

On Reddit and YouTube, Sims players have begun sharing their creations with both the gaming and Westworld communities. Some range from detailed character builds resembling main character Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) while others focus on the world’s setting.

[Warning: The following does contain some light spoilers for Westworld.]

In one particular Sims 3 re-creation, which can be seen below, quite a few characters from the show appear. There’s Bernard and Dr. Ford standing by the window in the upper-right hand corner, Dolores standing at her easel and Maeve surveying the scene before her from the porch of the brothel she runs. The scene even manages to incorporate a couple dancing; a constant image that played throughout the series.

While the scene itself is quite detailed, it doesn’t allow us to see a closeup of the different sims faces. We can tell that Ford and Bernard are dressed in the outfits they wore in the series, and Maeve seems to be wearing the purple costume her host was given. Unfortunately, the player hasn’t uploaded stand-alone shots of the characters. Other renditions of the characters, however, are incredibly detailed. The one seen below, which was created in The Sims 4 and uploaded to Imgur a couple of weeks ago, showcases a sim designed to look like Dolores.

In the two photos, special attention is paid to Dolores’ face and outfit. The top photo highlights the specific details the player used to ensure the sim’s face looked as authentic as possible. The photo below it focuses on Dolores’ dress, including the brown belt she wore with it. Dolores’ outfit changed often throughout the series — to indicate which timeline the story playing out on screen was taking place in — but most interpretations of the character have focused on this version. According to the description on the Imgur page, custom content used to build Dolores includes “skin, eyebrows, eyelashes, blush, lipstick, and dress.”

Another Sims 4 player, who goes by Katverse on YouTube, uploaded a video demonstrating how she built her own version of Dolores. Unlike the model above, Katverse’s Dolores can be seen wearing the white nightgown from Westworld’s first episode. She even designed a version of Dolores that can be used in game that features the host’s robotic components.

The Sims has been a longtime haven for cinephiles and TV fanatics who want to model their own simulated world based on a show or movie. From one player staging their own Friends environment to another recreating some of the most memorable settings from CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, The Sims continues to be a destination for detailed tributes.

Westworld’s first season ended earlier this month, but the series has been renewed for a season and will return in 2018.
