Where to buy the NES Classic Edition: Urban Outfitters

Also at Toys R Us tomorrow. Probably not for long.

If you missed out on the NES Classic Edition — and many have — on sale over the past month, good news: Urban Outfitters, of all places, will have it on sale beginning Tuesday, Dec. 6. (Correction: An earlier version got the date right but the day wrong. It’s Tuesday.)

The sale is online only through urbanoutfitters.com. It probably is not going to last very long. A news release sent by the company did not say exactly when the NES Classic Edition would be listed on their site.

As always, it retails for $59.98, though it goes for way more than that on the gray market.

The miniaturized throwback of the original Nintendo Entertainment System has been quite the consumer craze since its launch Nov. 11. Retailers' stock sold out within minutes online and, at one point eBay said NES Classics were changing hands at a rate of one every 18 seconds.

Despite vague promises to deliver more of the NES Classic "through the holiday shopping season and into the new year,” the adorable little console doesn't appear to be a generally available item on shelves.

Toys R Us told CNBC that it will have a limited stock, in-store beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday for the store's "Great Big Christmas Sale" event. A spokesman said they expect the NES Class to vanish quickly. Representatives of other major retailers said they were working with Nintendo to get their hands on more. It's a situation that's pissed off quite a few loyal Nintendo fans.
