Windjammers, the Neo Geo classic flying disc game first released in 1994, is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, Sony announced at PlayStation Experience 2016 today.
Gio Corsi, senior director of third part production at Sony Interactive Entertainment America, announced the title as part of the “building the list” initiative, which takes PlayStation fan suggestions and turns them into reality — sometimes against all odds.
In a PlayStation blog post, the CEO of DotEmu, Cyrille Imbert, talks about how he and his team have have always loved the game and dreamed of bringing it to a mass audience. The company is well known for their success in porting classic games to current gen consoles and Windjammers was a passion project turned dream come true.
The remake of Windjammers appears to hew closely to the Neo Geo original, though it will add online multiplayer on PS4 and Vita.
