2016 was such a terrible year, it got its own movie trailer

So many bad things happened this year

There were times this year when 2016 felt like a never-ending horror movie, and now thanks to a Kansas City comedy troupe, it has its own trailer.

Seth Macchi, Ben Auxier and Brian Huther of Friend Dog Studios cut together a trailer for a fake horror film called 2016: The Movie. The trailer starts with a countdown on Dec. 31, 2015 and quickly goes over some of the more devastating moments of 2016.

There are the deaths of multiple celebrities, of course, highlighting Gene Wilder, Muhammad Ali, Prince, Carrie Fisher and David Bowie in particular. The video also focuses on other major news items, like the shooting of the 17-year-old gorilla Harambe at the Cincinnati Zoo.

Brexit, phone explosions and the election of Donald Trump get special shoutouts, with the video ending on the eve of a New Year and a creepy child singing Auld Lang Syne in the background.

Here’s to 2017 being a better year, hopefully.
