ModDB.com, the enormous modding repository, has named its Mod of the Year for 2016 and the user-voted honor goes to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Chernobyl (pictured).
The mod, by TeamEPIC, launched Sept. 26, is a mod of 2010's S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat (on PC, of course). Second place went to Enderal by SureAI Team, a total conversion mod for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim that debuted July 3. It is set in its own canon, outside the Elder Scrolls universe.
Third place went to Hearts of Iron 4: The Great War, a Hearts of Iron 4 mod that launched Nov. 11. Mods for Doom 2 and the Total War franchise round out a top 10 selected by more than 100,000 votes cast.
Additionally, ModDB.com's editors honored a dozen more mods with editor's choice awards, giving first place to Star Wars: Thrawn's Revenge 2: Ascendancy, which is a mod of Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion by Thrawn's Revenge Development team, launched April 30.
