Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3 was announced in May of this year with a stunning trailer, and since then developer Relic Entertainment has unleashed a steady stream of information. During PAX Prime this year we had some hands-on time with the game’s Space Marines, Games Workshop’s iconic human faction. Just last week they gave Polygon a sneak peek at the Eldar.
At the controls is game director Philippe Boule, and you can listen to our entire interview in the video above. Or, if you’d rather, we’ve embedded the raw gameplay below.
The Dawn of War franchise has been around for more than 13 years. In this third installment, Boule said that one of the design goals for his team was to flesh out the storyline for the 40k universe’s more minor factions. “It’s not just a Space Marine game,” he said.
The game will launch with three playable factions, the Space Marines, Eldar and the Orks. The single-player campaign will move from faction to faction, plotting the course of a three-way battle for supremacy. This mission is the game’s sixth.
Dawn of War 3 will be available for Windows PC sometime in 2017.
