New Lego Star Wars cartoon coming this summer

Will join Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD

Disney XD will launch a new series titled Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, Variety reports. It's the network's second Lego Star Wars-themed program, after Droid Tales, and will join the critically acclaimed Star Wars Rebels. The first episode will air this summer.

Set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, the series will focus on a group called the Freemakers, "a family of scavengers who build and sell starships from the scoured debris of space battles strewn throughout the galaxy." The youngest member of the family, Kyber Saber, finds an ancient artifact that brings about his latent Force sensitivity, sending the clan on a galaxy-spanning journey and a fight against the Empire.

The series will launch around the same time as Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a multi-platform PC and console title from Warner Bros. and TT Games.
