Huge Chrono Trigger soundtrack tribute available now

75-track album honors one of video games' greatest soundtracks

Chrono Trigger's soundtrack is widely hailed as one of the best in video game music, and a five-disc, 75-track album pays tribute to its legacy. "Chronicles of Time," a collaboration of more than 200 artists, is available beginning today.

The album covers and references the music of composer Yasunori Mitsuda, who gave the SNES classic Chrono Trigger its iconic score more than 20 years ago. "Chronicles of Time" is fully licensed and includes a collection of art depicting the Square Enix game's memorable characters and moments.

"Chronicles of Time" is organized by Nate Horsfall, a veteran animator and artist who was also behind the 2013 tribute to Secret of Mana called "Spectrum of Mana." All proceeds from the sale of the album will be donated to the charity Doctors Without Borders, a news release said.

The album is $19.99 and is available on iTunes and LOUDR. Here is a sample of several tracks.

The album is organized by Chrono Trigger's different time eras and its musical styles range from rock and orchestral to live instrumental covers. Featured artists include Super Guitar Bros. Eight Bit Disaster, Stemage, William Carlos Reyes and Tim Yarbrough of The OneUps, composer Dale North, and numerous others.
