Pee-wee's Big Holiday speaks directly to your nostalgia in first trailer

It's no Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, but it's close

Netflix has debuted the trailer for Pee-wee's Big Holiday, the perennial man-child's first adventure in years. Above, longtime fans of the character will find that not too much has changed, despite the years since his cinematic debut.

In the first look at the film, which can be streamed exclusive on Netflix starting March 18, it doesn't quite match the absurd heights of 1985's cult classic Pee-wee's Big Adventure. Even so, Pee-wee Herman's next movie escapade looks like familiar territory — except this time, he's substituting his bike for a car and a new gang of mismatched companions on his way to the Big Apple.

The Netflix film is Pee-wee Herman's first since 1990's Big Top Pee-wee. The streaming service cut a deal with actor Paul Reubens and producer Judd Apatow back in 2015 to bring the character to Netflix. Reubens will also be seen out of character on this season the network drama Gotham, reprising his role as the Penguin's father.
