Cable network Disney XD premiered its first Lego Star Wars: The Resistance Rises short last night, and in the episode above, it's Poe Dameron who gets a starring role. "Poe to the Rescue" stars the eponymous starfighter pilot, giving him almost as much screentime as he has in the entirety of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
In just seven minutes, the starfighter pilot runs into Captain Phasma, C-3PO, BB-8, Admiral Ackbar and a whole slew of stormtroopers. In typical Lego fashion, however, the short balances out the high-volume action with a lot of humor, too.
The series of mini-episodes serves as a prelude to this summer's Lego Star Wars cartoon, which will also air on Disney XD. Although that show, Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, will take place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, The Resistance Rises shorts are set just prior to the First Order's attacks on Jakku.
The Resistance Rises is currently the only place to see Lego versions of The Force Awakens characters. A video game based on the seventh Star Wars film, Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will launch on June 28, however. That will be the first game directly based on the latest installment in the movie franchise.
