The developer behind the Disaster Report series is making a survival action-adventure game of a different breed with City Shrouded in Shadow. Instead of tasking players with surviving natural disasters like earthquakes and floods, developer Granzella's new game will focus on surviving the fallout of an Ultraman battle or an attack from Godzilla.
The latest issue of Famitsu offers new details on City Shrouded in Shadow, which will let players control one of two Japanese office workers who attempt to survive a brawl between two giant Ultramen. Screenshots from the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita game show the protagonists running from explosions, avoiding falling debris and dodging the massive, stomping feet of an Ultraman.
While Ultraman is clearly shown as one of the game's giant threats, Godzilla is shown in silhouette as a tease for an upcoming reveal. When Granzella originally teased the game in a trailer last year, it showed City Shrouded in Shadow's massive creatures obscured by dark shadows.
Granzella is working with publisher Bandai Namco, which published the PS4 version of Natsume's Godzilla last year, on City Shrouded in Shadow.
In addition to City Shrouded in Shadow, Granzella is also working on a new Disaster Report game for PS4. The title, Disaster Report 4 Plus: Summer Memories, is a revival of a project that was canceled in the wake of Japan's Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.
