League of Legends 2016 World Championship will take place across North America this fall

We're still over half a year away, but with League of Legends season six well underway, Riot has announced details on this year's World Championship series. In a post on the official League of Legends Esports site, Riot revealed that the World Championship tournament will take place in various locations across North America this year.

The competition will begin with Group Stages taking place Sep. 29 through Oct. 2 and Oct. 6 through Oct. 9 at the Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California. Quarterfinals will run from Oct. 13 to 16 at the Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Illinois. Four qualifying teams will head to semifinals taking place on Oct. 21 and 22 at Madison Square garden in New York City.

To wrap things up, the final two teams will meet up on Oct. 29 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Riot says that further information on ticket sales for the massive esports event will be coming soon.

The 2015 League of Legends World Championship featured events similar spread across a range of locations, this time in Europe. Group stages took place in Paris, France, quaterfinals in London, England, semifinals in Brussels, Belgium, and finals in Berlin, Germany. The event was a huge success, breaking viewership records for the popular competitive game.
