HTC and Valve are poised for a big reveal of the consumer model of the Vive virtual reality headset they are co-developing. This launch video just went up today during the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona.
As mentioned earlier, preorders for the Vive will open Feb. 29 with the first units delivered in April. The bundle costs $799. That's $200 more than competitor Oculus Rift, but it includes two handheld controllers and two base stations that help the Vive incorporate a user's motion in their playing space. Two games also will ship with the Vive.
That leaves Sony's PlayStation VR for the next big launch/price announcement. Last week GameStop's CEO indicated the console's VR unit could launch — or at least would be taking preorders — by this fall. More news is likely at E3 2016 in June.
