In X-Men: Apocalypse, fans will see a new, unique take on classic mutant Jean Grey, according to star Sophie Turner.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Turner — best known for her work as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones — said that unlike Famke Janssen's older, more sophisticated version of the character, her Jean Grey would be much more "insecure."
"She's young and isolate and so insecure and very isolated — even from the other mutants — because she's so powerful," Turner said. "So there's a real vulnerability to her."
In Apocalypse, Turner will play a much younger Jean Grey who hasn't learned how to properly control her incredibly strong and destructive powers.
Grey, most notable for her physical embodiment of the cosmic Phoenix Force, is one of the most memorable and beloved X-Men characters. Back in 2014, Turner said she would love to play a character like Grey in a comic book movie, adding that she thought it would be fun to do a superhero movie.
X-Men: Apocalypse, the last in director Bryan Singer's trilogy, hits theaters May 27.
