Riot released patch notes for soon-to-hit Patch 6.4 for League of Legends Wednesday. While the changes aren't quite as big as those we saw in 6.3, there are some big things to be aware of. Dominion is gone and Zz'Rot Portal is re-enabled, but there's plenty more going on.
You can read the full notes here, but here's the important stuff:
1. You can actually see what champions you own during champ select now
Hooray! Previously, you could only see your champions during the pick intent phase and while you were picking, making organizing trades within your team difficult.
Other champ select changes upcoming include the removal of enemy teams being able to see your pick intent at the start of your turn and defaulting to the last skin you played on a champion.
2. Three strong top laners received nerfs
Fiora, Malphite and Gangplank, who have seen tremendous success recently (especially at the competitive level) have all been taken down a notch.
The cooldown of Fiora's Riposte (her "W") has been increased, especially in the early game, and the cooldown on Bladework (her "E") now begins after the ability's attacks are used, rather than when it is cast.
Malphite's laning phase has been weakened, with a significant reduction to his base health regeneration as well as reduced damage on Ground Slam (his "E").
The most significant nerf in this patch may have been handed to Gangplank, who has been a top-tier champion since last season's rework. It's probably easier to just show you all the changes than to try and list them out:
3. More marksman changes!
Three of the top tier marksmen got nerfed, while four less frequently used picks got buffs.
Kog'Maw's attack speed has been lowered, so you can worry a little less about his terrifying promise. More changes have been promised in 6.5. The range on Lucian's ultimate has been reduced, decreasing some of his waveclear power and teamfight potential. And the cooldown on Ezreal's ultimate has been significantly increased, while Iceborn Gauntlet is no longer as good on non-tanks.
On the buff side of marksman changes, the cooldown on Caitlyn's 90 Caliber Net (her "E") was reduced, while the damage increase on headshots from her traps has changed from a percentage to a flat damage increase. Jhin saw some improvements as well in his post-launch patch, with increased base stats, a "mini-crit" interaction on towers and a change to his W and R abilities to make them single target vs. champions (which should increase his synergy with the Deathfire Touch Keystone).
Two utility marksmen picked up what could be significant buffs. The bounces on Sivir's Ricochet (her "W") now can crit, which could be absolutely brutal in team fights, and Ashe's "Ranger's Focus" (her "Q") makes a lot more sense now. Instead of stacks falling off all at once, they do so one at a time now, and they last for a full second longer.
4. The Warlord's Bloodlust Keystone is different now. Hey, Olaf!
Previously, Warlord's Bloodlust gave lifesteal on critical strikes, making it particularly effective on crit-based champions like Tryndamere and Yasuo.
The new Warlord's Bloodlust seems really strong on champions like Olaf and Aatrox, as Riot pointed out in the patch notes. In particular it should synergize incredibly well with Olaf's passive, which increases his attack speed based on his missing health.
5. Udyr and Xin Zhao are less powerful now
Udyr had the highest rate among junglers on Patch 6.3, so a nerf was expected. The shield on his Turtle Stance ("W") and the damage on his Phoenix Stance ("R") have been reduced, while core items of his kit also have seen nerfs. Movement speed on both Runic Echoes and Boots of Swiftness has been reduced.
Meanwhile Xin Zhao, another strong 6.3 jungler, saw a pair of nerfs to his Battle Cry ("W"), reducing both the AP ratio of the ability and the attack speed bonus.
League of Legends Patch 6.4 should be live either later today or later this week.
