Devil Daggers seems to have completely taken up our social media feeds in the past week. Once Nick Robinson and I got into the game, it was all we could do to pull ourselves away to cut and post this video.

The devilish mash-up of Doom and Geometry Wars has players running for their lives on a small chunk of real-estate floating in an infinite black void. Demons begin spawning almost immediately, and your only defense is a hail of powerful daggers you fling from your fingertips.

What makes Devil Daggers truly stand apart is the insane amount of skill it takes to be competitive at high-level play. Progress is measured in seconds, and right now the best time Polygon has to offer is barely over 68 seconds. The global leader currently clocks in at a delirious 508 seconds. We know this because Devil Daggers leaderboard gives instant, in-game access to the every high score in the world. It's the biggest upgrade to the leaderboard chase in ... well, ever.
