Tekken 7: Fated Retribution's latest video highlights Akuma, new Rage system

What's new in Tekken 7's expansion?

A new video for Tekken 7: Fated Retribution shows off what's changing in the follow-up to Bandai Namco's latest fighting game, focusing on the addition of Street Fighter guest character Akuma, Nina and an update to Tekken 7's Rage system.

Akuma is bringing the Street Fighter series' EX meter with him for his Tekken cameo. It looks like he'll also be able to cancel move animations, a la Street Fighter 4's FADC, to string together combos. Akuma seems to have all of his trademark moves, including his Raging Demon special attack, in Fated Retribution, but his Iron Fist tournament opponents will be able to easily dodge his fireballs by sidestepping or executing moves that pass through his projectiles.

The video briefly highlights Fated Retribution's other new fighter, Nina Williams, whom Bandai Namco unveiled last month.

Fated Retribution will also introduce some tweaks to Tekken 7's Rage system. When a player's health meter is below a certain point, they'll have access to both Rage Arts and a new Rage Attack that buffs their other moves.

Tekken 7: Fated Retribution will be location tested in Japan starting next week. A PlayStation 4 release is coming sometime in 2016.
