Downwell is coming to PS4, Vita

Dropping later this year

Downwell is making its way onto consoles, according to PlayStation Japan. The company released the video above, which is dedicated to its upcoming indie slate, including the cult favorite.

The Japanese PlayStation website goes further, stating that Downwell will launch in 2016 on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. It joins other indies like Unravel (which is available today), Goat Simulator and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, all of which will make their Japanese debut later this year. A Western release hasn't been confirmed by PlayStation as of yet.

Downwell first arrived on iOS and Windows PC last fall before coming to Android last month. Devolver Digital publishes the retro-styling vertical shooter, which was designed by Japanese developer Ojiro Fumoto. Fumoto showed off the game at PAX East 2015 and other conventions throughout the year prior to launch. It went on to win acclaim and devoted fans shortly after its release, and some named it 2015's best game.
