First look at the cast of AMC's Preacher

Amen

With Preacher set to debut in May, AMC has released a couple of posters introducing audiences to the show's three main characters.

The first poster, featuring Dominic Cooper, shows off lead character Jesse Custer sitting in a church pew and lighting a cigarette. Custer, a preacher that works in the small town of Annville, Texas, isn't a conventional man of the church. He becomes accidentally possessed by a creature named Genesis. Genesis, the blasphemous child of an angel and a demon who's potentially capable of killing God himself, gives Custer special abilities, like being able to control those around him.

Preacher - Jesse Custer

Following his accidental possession, Custer slowly begins to turn his back on the church, traveling across the country in search of a God who has abandoned his post while learning to use his newfound powers to his advantage.

The second poster features Custer's ex-girlfriend, Tulip O'Hare (played by Ruth Negga), who joins him on his journey across America. O'Hare, who went through a brief period as a hit woman, spends the majority of the comic book series trying to track down Custer after they're repeatedly separated. Although their relationship is complicated, it's one of the only things that keeps Custer going on his trek to find God and exorcise Genesis.

The third poster is for one of the most popular characters in Preacher. Cassidy (played by Joseph Gilgun) is an Irish vampire who made his way over to America and sustains himself on an unhealthy diet of narcotics and alcohol. He eventually becomes one of Custer's closest friends and allies, but finds himself falling in love with O'Hare.

Preacher - Cassidy

Cassidy has a major arc in the comics, which won't be mentioned here as it's a major spoiler for those that haven't read the series, but proves himself to be one of the most important — and divisive — characters in the series.

Preacher, being executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, will debut on AMC this May.
