Killer Instinct's third season shows off Tusk ahead of launch — and teases next fighter

Ultra Edition bundle offers 'early access' to new characters

Microsoft debuted Tusk, one of the third season of Killer Instinct's previously announced new fighters, in a new trailer uploaded ahead of its March 29 launch. The video above shows how the classic Killer Instinct 2 character looks on Xbox One and Windows PC, while hinting at the next member of the roster.

You'll have to watch the clip to the end for the hint at Killer Instinct's latest combatant, who appears to be a vampire named Mira, based on leaked details. The third season launches on March 29 on both Xbox One and Windows 10; it's the first version of the game to make the jump to PC, where it will be available exclusively on the Windows Store.

The company also detailed the various bundles available of the fighting game's new content. Each tier includes the third season's new fighters, of which there will be eight total. Four of these — Tusk, Kim Wu, Arbiter and Rash — will be available from launch, with the remaining four coming throughout the season. Those who buy the $39.99 Ultimate Edition will be given "early access" to those new characters.

The priciest option is the Supreme Edition set, which costs $59.99 on Xbox One and $49.99 on Windows 10. That gets you not just the new characters, but every fighter from the previous seasons of Killer Instinct too, giving players a total of 25 to choose from.

The reason for the price difference, Microsoft explained, is because the Supreme Edition on Xbox One also includes codes for Killer Instinct Classic and Killer Instinct 2 Classic.
