Here's the first trailer for Netflix's Voltron reboot

Megathrusters are still go

The first trailer for Netflix's upcoming Voltron reboot premiered at Wondercon this weekend and it goes a little more in-depth on how the Defender of the Universe is put together.

That means the assembly sequence shows the interlock activating and the dynotherms connecting. Fans of the old World Events/Toei series remember how the original assembly was more or less five cats getting stuck together, take it or leave it. This series will show its homework, such as what joint goes in which socket, before Voltron's eyes light up for go time.

Voltron: Legendary Defender is signed up for a first season of 13 episodes, coming from DreamWorks Animation, which has other series in the pipeline for the streaming service. It's not just Voltron's assembly that gets more detail; the show's creators have said they will be exploring the Lion Force pilots' backstories, looking to Star Wars and Game of Thrones as narrative role models.
